ATMdesk Software for Field Service

...or ATMdesk/Field for short, runs directly on the ATM's PC Core. It is designed to test modules installed in an ATM, as well as the ATM as a whole during a service visit in the field. Thus ATMdesk/Field is ideal for companies providing technical ATM support for their customers or for financial institutions servicing their ATM network themselves.

What is it for?

ATMdesk/Field is designed to test NCR 53xx (Easypoint), 56xx, 58xx (Personas) & 66xx (SelfServ) ATMs and is running on more than hundred thousand NCR ATMs since its first release in 2007.

Please note: ATMdesk/Field is not installed on ATM HDD. It is run on ATM by rebooting from external media (CD or USB).

Step 1

Step 1

Shut down Aptra and Windows, insert the CD with ATMdesk Software for Field Service into your NCR ATM’s CD ROM, and boot the machine. Linux and ATMdesk will start and prompt you to insert your ATMdesk Key.

Step 2

Step 2

Now insert your ATMdesk Key into your ATM’s USB port. The ATM will show you how long your license is still valid and when your ATMdesk Key is due for „check-in“ on our website.

Step 3

Step 3

After removing your ATMdesk Key, the Main Menu will automatically pops up, offering you (1) Supervisor Functions, (2) Device Diagnostics, (3) Confidence Tests, and (4) Logs and Tallies.

Step 4

Step 4

Select DEVICE DIAGNOSTICS and ATMdesk will show you all devices found on this machine. Should there be more devices, this will roll over to next screens.

Step 5

Step 5

Select for example CASH DISPENSER and ATMdesk will offer you a variety of Cash Dispenser Tests. More tests are available on the next screens with Page Down.

Step 6

Step 6

Here we try to perform DISPENSE test which ATMdesk only allows after the engineer has confirmed physical access to the safe internals. Therefore no unauthorised money-out is possible.

Step 7

Step 7

Once the test is completed - successfully or not - ATMdesk will show you in clear text outcome of the test (M-Status) and any associated sensor outputs (M-Data).

Step 8

Step 8

After repairing the dispenser, you may choose to run the Confidence Test from ATMdesk’s Main Menu, testing selected or all ATM's devices automatically.

Step 9

Step 9

You will get a report indicating in this example that IMCRW failed reading tests, so you might have to look closer and repair or replace the card reader.

Step 10

Step 10

Once everything is in working order again, you may wish to check ATM's Tallies and Error Logs looking for signs of abnormal device behavior. This can save you another visit to this ATM in the near future.

Step 11

Step 11

Here Hardware Error Log may suggest that a potential problem with dispenser bill calibration or LVDT/NTS exists. It could be wise to have a close look now instead of letting dispenser to fail soon.
